During Milan Design Week 2025, Artifort proudly presents Keep the Original Original - a striking installation in the heart of Milan, embodying our vision of championing restoration over replacement.
At Artifort, design is more than just a product — it's a legacy. For over 130 years, we've stood at the intersection of timeless beauty, exceptional comfort, and lasting quality. The visionary works of design legends Pierre Paulin, Kho Liang Ie and Jasper Morrison for Artifort are as relevant today as they were when first conceived. But in a world driven by mass production and disposable trends, how do we ensure that great design continues to thrive?
This exhibition presents a bold response: sustainability through preservation. Instead of discarding the past in pursuit of the new, Artifort embraces a future where pieces are revitalized and restored to their original brilliance. Through live demonstrations, visitors will witness the meticulous restoration of the legendary Ribbon Chair by Pierre Paulin, reupholstered entirely by hand using the traditional stitching techniques. This demanding process prevents creases in the fabric, ensuring that every curve is honored and every detail remains true to the designer’s intent. Once restored, this Ribbon Chair will remain in perfect condition for another 15 years or more.
Adding an extra layer of significance, Artifort now introduces a Certificate of Authenticity for Reupholstery – one of the firsts in the industry. This guarantees that each restored piece is not just an original Artifort design, but a testament to the craftsmanship and sustainable practices shaping the future of furniture.
